Kansai area includes the prefectures of Kyoto, Osaka, Wakayama and Nara. Food is very important in Japan and Japanese people enjoy trying the delicious dishes of diferent regions of the country.
Like all areas of Japan, Kansai has its specialties, especially Osaka, considered as the city of food in Japan. They even have the Kuidaore, a kind of doll that symbolizes their sympathy for food. The name of this doll means: "eat until faint"
One of those Osaka's typical dishes is takoyaki. Right under our hostel there is Konamonya Hachi a great bar where guests can taste them. Takoyaki are bechamel balls stuffed with pieces of octopus. They are made in a special cooking plate with oval holes to accommodate each of the balls. Takoyaki are usually served in packs of 6 or 8 and are topped with dried bonito and a customer choice`s sauce.
Konamonya Hachi's takoyaki are really tasty. They have many choices of sauces and flavors and you can enjoy them in the cozy bar accompanied by a beer or other beverage. Another good option is to buy them to take and eat them in our hostel.
For those who do not want to limit themselves to a single type of food, Konamonya Hachi also serves okonomiyaki and karaage.
