As I said in an article last year, in the Japanese spring everything turns pink, that is, "sakura" colour. To remember the concept in one sentence: Sakura is the pink flower of the cherry tree that in spring floods streets, parks, temples, shrines, river banks ... The beauty these trees gives to the landscape and the pleasant primaveral weather conducive the perfect atmosphere for Japanese to take the streets to sit under the trees, drinking and eating with cheerful and festive mood.

The observation of sakura (Hanami) is the perfect excuse for multiple spring festivals in all Japanese towns. Rivers are decorated with lanterns and lights that at night illuminate the most spectacular trees.

Five minutes away from our hostel, the Sahogawa River is decked out at these dates, increasing the usual charm of the place. On the banks performances of various types take place during the day, and for both lunch and dinner, many people are relaxing under the treetops. The combination of the lights and the beautiful flowers give rise to beautiful images like the ones I captured during last year's festival.

So do you want to join the locals to celebrate this coulourful festival?
