About a month ago, they stayed in our hostel 12 students of Japanese Language Program of Calvin University who were travelling Japan with their teacher Kaori san. As were a large group and our hostel has a limited capacity, we booked all the beds just for them.
We have already written some articles about Naranara, the group of students from the University of Tourism of Nara which performs every Friday free guides for our guests. This time it was a special occasion, so instead of the usual tour both groups decided to meet each other in the common room of our hostel for having dinner and party.
Naranara brought sushi and everyone contributed with drinks and snacks. The youngs had the perfect opportunity to practice their Japanese and English in a relaxed atmosphere, while exchanging cultures and made friends.
It was a great experience for everyone. We would love to repeat such initiatives. Unfortunately, this trip is organized every three years, so we'll have to wait a bit to get back to receive another group of students of this university. However, it would be very satisfying for us to host other events of this nature, to promote cultural exchange and respect and understanding between different cultures.
