The Nigatsudo (Hall of the Second Month) is a sub complex of buildings belonging to the Todaiji Temple. It is outside the limits of this, on a hill at the foot of Mount Wakakusa. The building, considered a National Treasure and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, dating from 752, but was rebuilt in 1669 after a fire.

Since its foundation, in this temple is held the ceremony known as Omizutori, which we mentioned in a previous post, which brings together a large crowd at the gates of the building.

Inside this beautiful wooden structure, there are two statues of Kannon considered "Hibutsu", ie secret, so they can not be shown publicly.

By being on a hill, many visitors go up to the balcony of the hall (free visit) to enjoy the beautiful views of Nara Park, especially during sunset.
