As the sign above explains, "Naranara" is a group of tourism students at the University of Nara. Every Friday offering a free tour to our hostel guests, about three enjoyable hours in which to experience something new about Japanese culture, such as purikura or karaoke.

Last Friday, Nara Guides were Tsubomoto-senpai, of second grade, and Uenishi-san, first grade. The guests who joined to the tour were Francesco from Australia, and Evan, Luke and Hiten from England. Since they were all very hungry, despite being a little early, we decided to go to dinner first, so our guides took us to eat ramen in Sanchan.

After the delicious ramen, we went to the arcade to make us a purikura, that is, a series of fashion photos, eliminating the imperfections of the skin, widing the eyes, elonging limbs... The idea is to make us look like the idols of Japanese pop culture. As is clear from the pictures, everybody had a great time taking the pictures and retouching them afterwards.

Finally, Tsubomoto-san and Uenishi-san did a quiz about Japanese culture, in which the guests answered questions about Nara and Japan in general.

Besides fun purikura and how rich was the ramen, the most important of these tour guides is offering tourists the opportunity for cultural interaction with young Japanese, who really do their best to make our guests be comfortable and keep some good memories of Nara.
